Naples is one of the richest cities of military buildings, built from the Norman age to defend the land from possible attacks. Impressive buildings, located between the waterfront and the city suburbs, they have been used over the centuries as well as state prisons and places of residence of the royal court. We’ll start our tour in front of the sea, visiting the monumental Castel dell’Ovo built on the small island of Megaride on top of the ruins of the Roman villa of Lucullus. A little further inside, but overlooking the harbor, there is the beautiful Maschio Angioino, which was the residence for the Anjou and the Aragonese family. Inside we will visit the famous Hall of the Barons, the site of a famous plot foiled by Ferrante of Aragon, the Palatine Chapel and other rooms of the castle.
