FONTANELLE CEMETERY AND SANITA' DISTRICT

A guided tour to discover the Sanità discrict and its cultural heritage, including art, history and beliefs deeply rooted in the area. The visit will start in the suggestive Fontanelle Cemetery, that holds about 40.000 remains of people, victims of the plague of 1656 and the cholera epidemic of 1836. We will enter in the heart of the Sanità district to visit the baroque Basilica of San Vincenzo Ferrer, where are located paintings of Luca Giordano, Azzolino and other neapolitan painters of the 1600s. We will see the birthplace of Totò outside, to end our tour visiting Palazzo Sanfelice and Palazzo dello Spagnolo.
